The FRC office is in Room 33, the preschool and Extended Day class is in Room One and the FRC Play Group is in Room Two. The telephone number is 860 627-9741. The e-mail address of the Program Administrator, who is Mary Jane (Midge) Pych, is mpych@ewindsor.k12.ct.us.
The East Windsor Family Resource Center is designed to reach out to children and families during the important years before children enter school as well as offering the continuation of services for school-age children and their families. The “Birth to School” FRC was started by a group of East Windsor community volunteers, under the guidance of former Supt. Phillip Morton, whose goal was to ensure that healthy, well-prepared children are coming into the schools, ready to learn, grow and achieve their own personal best. Our current Superintendent, Timothy Howes, is also a strong supporter of the FRC’s goals. The FRC was based on the “Schools of the 21st Century” concept developed by Dr. Edward Zigler of Yale University.
In 2004, the East Windsor FRC applied and received a grant from the state of Connecticut and became the 62nd family resource center that is state-funded. The vision guiding the CT. Family Resource Centers is to prevent an array of childhood and adolescent problems by strengthening effective family management practices and establishing a continuum of childcare and support services that children and parents need The philosophical foundation is designed to provide the best possible start for children and families of all racial, ethnic and socioeconomic groups living in the communities in which Family Resource Centers are located. The seven components of an FRC are as follows:
