Welcome to the Special Education Department Home Page
Welcome to the Special Education Department’s website. The East Windsor Public School system continues to strive to address the needs of all 175 special education students and 37 Section 504 students in the district. There are 23 students placed out of district. Parents are important members of the PPT process and we welcome your attendance and input. Our goal is to work collaboratively with you to meet the needs of your child. We maintain that a student’s success requires the partnership between home and school. The East Windsor Public Schools system follows mandates from the CT State Department of Education to provide students’ education within the Least Restrictive Environment. Inclusion continues to be implemented within our schools when appropriate for the student. Our goal is to continue to increase the percentage of time that special education students spend with their general education peers. A successful pilot summer program was held at the Broad Brook School for students with developmental disabilities. This school year, all three schools will be implementing the mandated Response to Intervention (RtI) model which requires intense data collection and interventions whenever a student is having ongoing academic difficulties. The East Windsor Middle School welcomes Brian Mailman, a student from Saint Joseph College who will intern with special education teacher Patrick Tudryn for the first quarter. Below, you will find links to some helpful CT resources for families.
