MINUTES OF JUNE 1, 2006

 

 

I.       TIME AND PLACE OF MEETING

 

Chairman Pica called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in the East Windsor High School cafeteria.

           

        

II.       ATTENDANCE

 

Present:  Chairman Pica, Secretary Holigan and members Bates, Guiliano, Raber, Signor and Willingham, Superintendent of Schools Gallucci, Assistant Superintendent Howes, Director of Curriculum Dugas and Recording Secretary Nolan. 

Absent:  Kubick and Rajala.

         Upon motion by Mr. Signor, seconded by Ms. Guiliano, it was unanimously

IV.     PREVIOUS MINUTES

The Board decided to hold off on doing anything until it knows what the Boards of Finance and Selectmen want to do.

 

3.      Class of 2006 Graduate and Celebrate Party - Fri., June 23 - Sat., June 24:

 

          The Board will provide donut holes, mini-muffins, mini-bagels and juice during the time prizes are being given out.      

 

4.     High School Concert - Wed., June 7, 7:00 p.m., EWHS

 

        Tickets were distributed.

The Board wants to see different budget scenarios before the next meeting. Mr. Howes will e-mail them to Board members.

            B.         Request Approval to Hire a Middle School Assistant Principal

 

                        Upon motion by Mr. Raber, seconded by Mr. Signor, it was unanimously

 

VOTED:  To accept the resignation of Richard Shonty as Middle School Assistant Principal.

 

The Board indicated that Mr. Slattery and the Superintendent should recommend the appointment of an assistant principal to the Board. 

 

C.        Request Approval for Girls Basketball Team Trip to St. Thomas,

                        November 30, 2006 - December 3, 2006 - Mr. Harrigan

 

Michael Harrigan and Brian Hurlock requested permission to take the girls basketball team to St. Thomas to scrimmage with students there.  Each girl would also team up with a girl from the island and spend a day with them in school.  Students would miss two days of school. 

 

Mr. Signor moved, and Ms. Guiliano seconded a

 

MOTION:  To approve the trip as presented.

 

 

Voting for the motion:  Bates, Guiliano, Holigan, Signor

Opposing:  Raber and Willingham

The motion passed.

 

                                               

X.         REQUESTS FOR DATA FROM THE BOARD  

 

            A.         Update on Driver Education Program

 

                        Mr. Howes will have information at the June 15th Board meeting.

           

B.         The Board requested a list of overnight field trips scheduled for the

            2006-2007 school year.
