V.         AGENDA

A.               Current School Enrollment Figures

Broad Brook School, 643; East Windsor Middle School, 443; East Windsor High School, 500.  Though the numbers look steady, these numbers don’t represent all the same students.  Many students enter and leave the schools each month.

B.       Facility Work Update/CIP Update (Howes)

Boilers at the high school and the high school roof are still in the CIP.  One of the boilers will be retubed this summer and this would be the last time it could be retubed.

              C.       2006-2007 Budget Update (Howes)

The Board of Finance has not yet begun their budget workshops.

Mr. Howes said that 2.5 million dollars in excess costs have been turned back to the town over the last 10 years.  That money could have been sitting in an account for the schools, but the school board turns it back to the town and the town uses it.    When funds have been needed for special education students, they have been taken from elsewhere in the school budget.  Mr. Howes stated that over the years, the Board of Education’s budgets have been very accurate.

              D.       Summary of Previous Municipal Facilities Committee Meeting

Ms. Rajala reported that the committee will research and analyze town buildings and make recommendations to the Board of Selectmen.  Data will include the building and square footage, age, occupancy, condition, photos.  The report is due to the Board of Selectmen at the end of March.  The committee meets on March 22.
