EAST WINDSOR STUDENTS MEET GOVERNOR....

Welcome to the Homepage of East Windsor Public SchoolS

Now that we have had snow days and delays, it seems as though winter has officially arrived. Hopefully, all the winter weather is behind us. February is normally a short month and with a week long vacation it becomes even more condensed. With testing for CMT and CAPT looming in March, it becomes imperative that we utilize the time effectively for student learning. East Windsor teachers have worked diligently to ensure that the daily curriculum they teach has focused on rigorous and relevant instruction that supports students' capacity to master learning strategies they will use forever. Families can help to encourage their children to do their best, be well rested, in attendance daily and charged with a full breakfast to fuel the brain.

On February 2nd, students in grades 1-4 received a day full of social studies lessons through Broad Brook School’s participation in Junior Achievement. Thirty volunteers from Hamilton Sundstrand assisted in presenting hands-on lessons and learning activities that engaged all students in experiencing concepts of families, community, economics, and business careers. Second grade students experienced assembly line production in the “Donut Factory”. Third graders planned and created a city, while fourth grade students played ERASER, an economics game that had them experience different careers in the business world.

The boys' and girls' basketball teams at the Middle School completed their schedule of games and played very well. The cheerleaders participated at each home game and cheered for the teams. All three teams showed great improvement since the beginning of the season and we are very proud of their efforts.

In March we have many upcoming activities. The High School has a fantastic production of Grease on March 16th, 17th and 18th. Please click here for more information.  For those families who have students preparing for college, the High School is having a College Planning Night on March 5th at 7:00 p.m.  Mr. Chambers will be having his “Lets Talk” meeting on March 8th at 6:00 p.m.  There is also an 8th Grade Graduation meeting on March 22nd at 6:30 p.m. in the Middle School café, so if you have a students graduating from the Mddle School this would be a wonderful activity for you and your family. The Middle School will be holding an Ensemble Recital and Pasta Dinner on March 29th at 6:00 p.m., so join us for dinner, music and fun.

This month, Graduate and Celebrate is having a Tag Sale on March 10th from 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. to benefit the Safe Graduation program. So come on down and take a look at all the great stuff for sale - there should be some great deals. The East Windsor Lions will be holding their annual Scholarship Breakfast on March 25th from 8:00 a.m. until noon at the High School. The food is excellent and the proceeds benefit our High School students’ scholarship program. We are very proud of our schools and we value all of the support from our families and the community. We encourage everyone to join in and lend a hand.

On a personal note, I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to the Board of Education for selecting me as the Superintendent of East Windsor Public Schools. I have been afforded many opportunities to serve East Windsor in numerous capacities, most recently as Acting Superintendent. I consider East Windsor to be my home and I am honored by this appointment and eager to begin in this new role. I believe our periods of transition are at an end and we will now move forward with stability and a vision for the future. I look forward to continuing the good work we have already begun this year and I envision a long and productive association, not only within our schools, but in the community as well.

Sincerely,

Timothy S. Howes, Superintendent of Schools
